FAB Defense and our shared history
FAB Defense is an Israeli maker of firearm accessories: stocks, grips, handguards, magazines and holsters. For us it is more than another catalogue brand. Through our second store, fabdefense.cz, we and Michal Vrána got FAB to start producing parts for the Czech Sa vz.58 in Israel back in 2005. Today the vz.58 line is one of the most complete in the FAB range, and we know it down to the last screw.
What we carry from FAB Defense
More than six hundred items fall into a few groups:
- Stocks – folding, telescopic and fixed. The folding telescopic stock with a recoil absorber suits rifles with a sharper recoil impulse; the version without it is lighter and shorter. The GL-CORE system with an interchangeable buttpad and optional GCCP cheek rest is one of the most common builds, and we stock it for the MP5 and the Zastava M70/M77 as well. For the vz.58 the Galil-type UAS-VZP folding stock remains popular.
- Handguards and grips – the polymer Vanguard VZ handguard with M-LOK slots for the vz.58, the VTS and PTK front grips (both also in direct M-LOK versions) and pistol grips such as the AG-58. If you have M-LOK and need Picatinny, the polymer MA adapters solve it.
- Magazines and dummy rounds – the polymer Ultimag VZ in 10 and 30 rounds for the vz.58 has been our best-selling FAB product for years. The polymer PDA dummy rounds in 5.56 are for loading and malfunction drills.
- Scorpus and Covert holsters – polymer holsters with retention lock and thigh platforms for Glock, CZ P-10, Walther P99 or HK USP, right- and left-handed.
- AMP and AMP PRO conversions – polymer chassis that turn a Glock 17/19, Glock 43X/48, Walther PDP or IWI Masada into a compact carbine with a top rail for a red dot.
- RTS target systems – reactive targets, stands and variable poles for training.
Who it is for and which platforms
The largest share of parts is for the AR-15, for the AK-47/74 including the AKM and the AKS-74U "Krinkov", and of course for the Sa vz.58, where the offer runs from magazine to stock. Modernization sets also cover the SKS and Remington and Mossberg shotguns. Pistol shooters will find holsters, grips (for example the Makarov PM) and the AMP conversions. FAB suits the sport shooter turning a military rifle into an ergonomic gun at a sensible price, and the duty user who needs parts that hold up.
What to watch for
Most parts come in black, FDE and OD green. Before buying a stock, check whether your rifle has a fixed-stock or folding-stock rear trunnion, because the adapters differ. Front grips and adapters exist in Picatinny and M-LOK versions and the two are not interchangeable. On the vz.58 the Vanguard handguard and FAB stocks are designed to work together; mixing in other makers' parts calls for a check of clearances. Test the polymer Ultimag in your specific rifle before relying on it.
