Aimpoint – where the red dot began
Aimpoint is the Swedish company that introduced the electronic red dot in the mid-1970s and is still the benchmark for armed forces worldwide. We like it because it works. ACRO C-2 and P-2, Duty RDS, Micro H-2 and the legendary Patrol Rifle Optic are sights we run on our own guns.
ACRO, Micro, Comp and Duty RDS – how they differ
- ACRO P-2 and C-2 – enclosed pistol red dots; the emitter sits inside a tube, so rain or dirt on the window cannot kill the dot. The P-2 is the duty version with deeper water resistance and more night-vision settings; the C-2 has more daylight settings, is aimed at civilians and also suits a carbine or PCC. Both run on a CR2032 in 3.5 MOA; the C-2 also comes in 2.5 MOA. ACRO is its own footprint, so we stock plates for Glock MOS and CZ Shadow 2 OR.
- Micro H-2 – the compact tube in 2 or 4 MOA. On an AR-15 with the 39 mm spacer and quick-release LRP, on an AK, vz.58 or shotgun straight onto Weaver/Picatinny. 4 MOA is faster up close, 2 MOA more precise on a rifle.
- CompM4s and PRO – full-size 30 mm tubes on the QRP2 mount. CompM4s is the military version on an AA battery; the PRO (Patrol Rifle Optic) is its more affordable duty sibling with a 2 MOA dot.
- Duty RDS MR – the newest 30 mm tube with a switchable reticle (2 MOA dot, circle, or both), CR2032 power and a one-piece torsion-nut mount.
- Magnifiers 3XMag-1, 3X-C and 6XMag-1 with TwistMount and FlipMount bases (30 and 39 mm).
Who it is for
Micro, Comp and Duty RDS belong on the AR-15, AK, vz.58 and MP5 for practical shooting, duty and hunting (the H in Micro H-2 means hunting). ACRO is the pick for Glock MOS and the CZ Shadow 2 and Shadow 2 Compact, in optics divisions and for carry, where an enclosed emitter matters most. On an AR-15 the 39 mm spacer gives the Micro co-witness with iron sights.
