Nitecore Flashlight continues to expand its “flat” flashlight EDC line. The latest addition is the EDC37. The flashlight body is made of steel and a separate mechanical lock has been added, now located below the display. The rest of the controls and the overall concept of the light remain the same as on the previous EDC25 / EDC27 / EDC27 UHi and EDC29 models. Like the EDC27 and EDC29, the EDC37 also has an OLED display. New is the use of 2x NiteLab UHi 20 MAX LEDs in two reflectors, one set for a flood beam and the other for a focused beam. In the most powerful LUMIN SHIELD mode (flood light) the output is 8000 lm / 44010 cd, while in SEARCH mode (focused light) it is 3000 lm / 44010 cd. Lumin Shield and Strobe can be assigned for direct control via a separate switch. In both of the highest-output modes the run time is on the order of a few tens of seconds before the light steps down to a more economical mode. There are four standard light modes: ULTRALOW - LOW - MID - HIGH.

The EDC37 has an unusually flat form factor suited to everyday carry. It now uses 2x UHi 20 MAX LEDs as the light source. Thanks to the new LEDs, beam distance has been extended to 420 metres with a high output of 8,000 lm and beam intensity of 44,010 cd.  The light is controlled by two large buttons on the tail of the flashlight: a raised ON/OFF button and a low-profile two-stage MODE button. The first button switches both constant and momentary light on and off. The second MODE button switches between the 6 light modes and the strobe. The button is two-stage: a half press activates Turbo mode (8,000 lm) and a full press activates the 2nd-generation variable strobe. The buttons can also be safely locked with 2 types of lock. In the first case the ON/OFF button is locked and only the mode button remains functional for the TURBO-READY and STROBO-READY functions. The second lock option locks both buttons so the light cannot be switched on unintentionally under any circumstances, e.g. when carried in luggage. This is done with the slide switch below the display. The 8,000 mAh Li-Ion battery is charged via an integrated USB-C port. The body of the flashlight features an OLED display showing both the selected mode and the remaining run time for that mode. The NITECORE EDC37 has a stainless steel body with a titanium finish. With its flat construction and weight of 199 g it is a strong candidate for a high-performance flashlight from Nitecore.
